Torrington- Alyce O’Sullivan Driscoll, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at her home on Pineridge Road, surrounded in person and/or in spirit by her family members.

Alyce was born in Bristol on May 18, 1930, daughter of the late Michael and Agnes (Weber) O’Sullivan. She graduated from Farmington High School and went on to become one of Torrington’s preeminent dancing teachers.  Her recitals at the Warner Theater were the talk of the town and to this day, many students, now mothers and grandmothers, still share stories of Alyce’s love of dancing, teaching, and her students.  After her career as a dancing teacher, Alyce branched out into helping raise money for her church, St. Francis of Assisi Church on Main Street in Torrington.  Alyce ran the St Francis of Assisi Thrift Store with other volunteers for years, which raised thousands of dollars for St. Francis of Assisi School.  Alyce absolutely loved her church and church family.

On July 4, 1955, Alyce married the love of her life, the late Edward R. Driscoll.  Together they raised five children.  Alyce is survived by her five children:  Michael Driscoll, Mary Rondot, Patti Vecera, David West, and Jerry Driscoll, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert O’Sullivan, two sisters, Helen Erha and Jean Dawson, and a grandson, John Driscoll.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Granato and concelebrated by the Rev. William McCarthy on Friday, July 7, 2017, at 1:00pm at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Old St. Francis Cemetery, 50 Willow Pl., Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
