Clifford J. Donovan

Torrington- Clifford J Donovan,70, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 12, 2017. He was the beloved husband of 34 years of Patricia (Criss) Donovan.

Mr. Donovan was born in Bristol on November 1, 1946, son of Blanche (Daignault) Goldbeck of Torrington and the late William Donovan. He was a man of many stories and lead an adventurous life. Cliff touched the lives of everyone he met whether it was directions to just about anywhere or a dirty joke. After his service in the Navy he worked most of his life in the tow truck, transport, repo business. Cliff took pride in his extra-large family and enjoyed spending time with them. He loved all the noise and confusion that came with it. 

        Survivors, in addition to his wife Patricia, and mother Blanche, include two sons, Jeff Davis and Angela Cardella, and Ray Donovan and his wife Kelee, all of Torrington; two daughters, Debbie (Davis) Cashman and her husband Patrick, and Jennifer (Davis) Rogers, all of Torrington; a brother, William Donovan and his wife Vicky of Torrington; five sisters, Karen Benedict and her husband Ben of Edgewater, FL, Pam DeMichael and her husband David, Diane Dougal and her husband Jerry, all of Torrington, Nancy Lewis of Canton, and Kelly Sayles and Dora Dionne of Jacksonville, FL; 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many, many nieces and nephews. Cliff was pre-deceased by his step-mother, Joann Donovan, his step-father Raymond Goldbeck, and his daughter, Julie Box. 

        Services will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 4:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Friends may call Sunday afternoon from 2:00p.m. until the time of service.
