Falls Village- Edith May Loverin, 99, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. She was the wife of the late Alfred Loverin and Paul Mansfield.
Mrs. Loverin was born in Falls Village on October 18, 1917, daughter of the late Arthur B. and Minnie (Mattis) Smith, and had been a lifelong area resident. Edith was a retired factory employee with the Becton-Dickinson Company, Canaan, retiring with 20 years of service. She was a member of the Falls Village Congregational Church, Falls Village Senior Center, and had enjoyed knitting and crafting, and will be remembered for her love of dance.
Survivors include a son, Forbes E. Loverin and his wife Norma of Torrington, two step-daughters, Jane Pennella of SC, and Susan Cunningham of MD, a sister, Lucille Witherall of Harwich, MA, three grandchildren, Robert Loverin, West Saunders, and Katrina Saunders, three great-grandchildren, Lucye Loverin, Owen Saunders, and Riley Saunders, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Loverin was predeceased by her children, Arlene Neulinger and Ronald Loverin, and her siblings, Margaret Swenson, Alice Tuthill, Arthur Smith, and Grace Proper.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at Falls Village Congregational Church, 16 Beebe Hill Rd., Falls Village. Burial will be private.
