Helen R. (Stalker) Huxley

Torrington- Helen R. Huxley, 91, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene R. Huxley.

        Mrs. Huxley was born in New Marlboro, MA on August 23, 1926, daughter of the late Raymond and Lydia (Decker) Stalker, and had been an area resident for most of her life. In her earlier years, she had been employed by Hart’s five and dime store in Canaan. During WWII, she was proud to have worked on waterproof jackets for the war effort, and also sent letters to servicemen to let them know they were cared about and appreciated by people back home.

        Survivors include two sons, Steven Huxley of Torrington and John R. Huxley of Winsted; two daughters, Sharry Battistoni and Diane Maches, both of Torrington; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 11:00am at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 10am to 11am at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
