Helena D. Kornay

Torrington- Helena D. Kornay, 93, died Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Valerie Manor, Torrington.

        Miss Kornay was born in Torrington on August 6, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Veronika (Zbushka) Kornay, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and had been a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols.

        Survivors include a sister, Margaret D. Kornay of Torrington, and three nephews, Thomas Kandefer, Peter Kandefer, and James Kandefer.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 12:00p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington.
