Torrington- John J. Salamacha, 63, passed away, Friday, October 13, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 41 years of Linda M. (Nevin) Salamacha.

        Mr. Salamacha was born in Hartford on June 6, 1954, son of the late Bronislaw and Sophie (Dervic) Salamacha, and was a lifelong area resident. John was a retired Desktop Support Manager working in the State of Connecticut Judicial Information System, retiring with over 17 years of service. Prior to working for the State of Connecticut, he spent many years working as a machinist. He had been involved in Scouting, enjoyed building and woodworking. John was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees fan, was famous for his barbecued ribs, and enjoyed bonfires with his family. He will be remembered for his hilarious sense of humor and his unwavering love for his family.

        Survivors, in addition to his wife Linda, include two sons, Jason J. Salamacha and Matthew G. Salamacha, both of Torrington; a daughter, Sarah A. Robertson and her husband Jeff of East Hampton; two brothers, David Salamacha of Torrington and Philip Salamacha of Winchester; three sisters, Mary Ann Picard of Harwinton, Aniela Salamacha of Colebrook, and Tabitha Krosi of Waterbury; four grandchildren, Elijah, Gabriel, Jordan, and Olivia; and several nieces and nephews.

        Services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.

        At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center, 200 Kennedy Dr., Torrington, CT 06790 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
