Josephine A. (Sebest) Brusie

Torrington- Josephine A. Brusie, 81, died Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of Arthur J. Brusie.

          Mrs. Brusie was born in Torrington on April 15, 1936, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Michna) Sebest, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a retired bookkeeper at the dental offices of Drs. Coutant, Sederquist, and Nebor. Mrs. Brusie was a devoted lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the Friendly Girls Bowling League at the former Skytop Lanes. Josephine enjoyed golfing at Greenwoods Country Club, shopping, reading, and bird watching, and had a great love for her family.

          Survivors, in addition to her husband Arthur, include two daughters, Phyllis Stearns and her husband Robert, and Ann O’Donnell and her husband Patrick, all of Torrington; six grandchildren, Emily Stearns, Robert Stearns, Timothy O’Donnell, Rachel and Kristen Stearns, and Kathleen O’Donnell; two great-grandchildren, Briella and Saidee Stearns; and two special nieces and their families, Patricia Morales and her husband Miguel, and Karen Svetz-Andrews, and her husband John. Mrs. Brusie was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Sebest and a sister, Ann Svetz.

          A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:30a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
