Torrington- Maggie Hill, 77, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles O. Hill, Sr.

        Mrs. Hill was born in Summerton, SC, on May 29, 1940, daughter of the late Willie and Annie (Green) Smith, and had been a Torrington resident for most of her life. She had also resided in Columbia, SC, Spartanburg, SC, and had lived in Middletown for the past 2 and a half years. Maggie enjoyed knitting, sewing, and cooking. She was devoted to her Savior, Jesus Christ.

        Survivors include three sons, Henry L. Smith and his wife Alicia of Winsted, Charles O. Hill, Jr., and his wife Cheryl, and Steven M. Hill, all of Middletown; four brothers, Henry Smith and his wife Maemie, and Roosevelt Smith, all of Columbia, SC, Ervin Smith of Hartford, and James Smith and his wife Loretta of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Anniemae Thomas and her husband Robert of Norfolk, VA, and Williemae Smith of Columbia, SC, 16 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hill was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Navarro.

        Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:30am at Winsted United Methodist Church, 630 Main St., Winsted. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Saturday morning from 9:00am to 10:30am at Winsted United Methodist Church.
