New Hartford, CT- Mary B. O’Donnell, 89, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Brandywine Assisted Living, Litchfield, CT. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel A. O’Donnell.
Mrs. O’Donnell was born in Bayonne, NJ, on November 27, 1928, daughter of the late Thomas and Delia (Cox) Gibbons. She was a retired administrator with the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ, a position she held for 16 years. Mary had a deep love for her Catholic faith, and loved her years at her parish, volunteering for many roles besides her paid one. She was a member of the Formal Dinner Dance Club when she resided in Nebraska, and enjoyed playing bridge. As well, she was an active member for many years and through many moves around the country of the PEO. She will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother by her family.
Survivors include five sons, Daniel G. O’Donnell of St. Charles, MO, Thomas E. O’Donnell and his wife Janet of Trumbull, CT, Richard K. O’Donnell of Roswell, GA, David J. O’Donnell and his wife Cherie of Folsom, CA, and Robert M. O’Donnell of Missoula, MT; two daughters, Mary Ellen Crociata and her husband Dr. Frank Crociata, DO, of New Hartford, CT, and Madalene T. O’Donnell of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Raymond Gibbons and his wife Jackie of Newburyport, MA, and Kevin Gibbons and his wife Ina of Palm Desert, CA; a sister, Regina Brow and her husband Jack of Brick, NJ; 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas Gibbons, Vincent Gibbons, and Robert Gibbons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Rd., Upper Saddle River, NJ. Burial will follow in the Cemetery of the Ascension, Monsey, NY. Friends may call Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00p.m. at Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, 109 Darlington Ave., Ramsey NJ.
