Pompano Beach, FL- Michael A. Adamo, Jr, 83, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at North Broward Medical Center, Pompano Beach, FL. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen (McCann) Adamo.

        Mr. Adamo was born in Winsted on March 17, 1934, son of the late Michael A. Adamo, Sr., and Ida “Edith” (Renza) Adamo. He was a U.S. Navy Korean Conflict Veteran, who proudly served on the USS Sarsfield. Michael was a retired teacher with the Winchester Public School System, retiring with 33 years of service. Mr. Adamo was a life member of the Torrington Lodge of Elks, a former member of the Winsted Kiwanis Club and Winsted YMCA. Michael enjoyed watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and UConn Basketball. He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Litchfield, and St. Ambrose Church, Deerfield Beach, FL.

        Survivors include two daughters, Mary-Patricia Adamo Clemmer and her husband Buddy of Burlington, MA, and Michele Adamo Prifogle and her husband Stephen of Indianapolis, IN; four grandsons, Jakob, Mason, Pearson, and Milo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank McCann and his wife Janis, James McCann and his wife Susan, and Edward McCann and his wife Cathy, all of New Hartford, Joseph McCann and his wife Holly of Torrington, Kathleen McCann of Newport News, VA, and Carol Micket and her husband Terry of Leesburg, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

        Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 9:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South St., Litchfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Friends may call Friday, August 11, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.

        At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Ellen Adamo Scholarship Fund, c/o Northwest Connecticut Community Foundation, 33 East Main St., Torrington, CT 06790.
