Mildred (Hermann) Wallach

Cheshire- Mildred Hermann Wallach, 90, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Gert Wallach, M.D.

        Mildred was born in Torrington on April 1, 1927, daughter of the late Louis and Bertha (Vince) Hermann. After High School, Mildred worked at Brooks Bank, rising to branch manager, and later at the Colonial Bank in Waterbury, in charge of trust operations for 20 years. In the 1970’s, she moved to Tennessee with her husband, whose work in public health brought them there. They later returned to Connecticut to continue his work in Waterbury. After her return, Mildred volunteered as a tutor at Literacy Volunteers and Book Nook at the Watertown Library. She was a member of the Watertown Garden Club and served for a time as its president. During this period, she completed work on a B.S. Degree in Business Management at Post College. After her husband’s passing in 1983, she moved from Waterbury to Cheshire.

        Survivors include her nieces, Beverly Budney Sargent and Carol Hermann; nephews, Robert Budney, Gerald Morin, Thomas Morin, and Carl Hermann. Mildred’s nephew, Edward Hermann, predeceased her.

        Private services and burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington, where her husband, parents, sisters, and brother-in-law, Louis Budney, also rest in peace. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
