Torrington- Valeria V. Strand, 94, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Strand.
Mrs. Strand was born in Torrington on February 20, 1922, daughter of the late John and Lucreita (Achim) Maches, and had been a lifelong city resident. Valeria was a member of the Piedmont Bowling League and Trinity Episcopal Church.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Strand and his wife Peggy of Statesville, NC, a daughter, Janet Binette and her husband Raymond of Torrington, five grandchildren, Joseph Binette, Holly Watson, Kara Binette, Mary Bridget Strand, and Sean Strand, three great-grandchildren, Michaela McNutt, Javen Watson, and Lexi Walsh, several nieces and nephews, and dear friend Megan Walsh.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11:00a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington.
