Virginia L. Pileni

Torrington- Virginia L. Pileni, 94, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington.

        Miss Pileni was born in Kittanning, PA, on December 13, 1922, daughter of the late Vincenzo and Julia (Barella) Pileni, and had been a Torrington resident for most of her life. She was a retired machine operator with the Torrington Company, a communicant of St. Peter Church, and a volunteer at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Miss Pileni enjoyed bowling, gardening, reading, and most of all, spending time with family.  She was predeceased by a brother, Ernest Pileni and sister Theresa Ratte and brother-in-law Arthur Ratte.

        Survivors include nieces and nephews, Ann Marie Lallier, and her husband David of Torrington, and their children, Brittany, Eric, Corey, and Julia; Mary Ellen LaTulipe of Torrington, and her children Joseph, Jr., Tara, and Brian; Karen LaTulipe and her husband Michael O’Halloran of Highland, NY, and their children Melia and Cole; William “Billy” LaTulipe, Sr. of Torrington, and his children William, Jr., and Emma; Cathy Phelps of Glastonbury and her children Keira and Austin; Robert Ratte and his wife Ellen of Palm Bay, FL, and their children James and David; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Miss Pileni was predeceased by a nephew, Joseph LaTulipe, Sr., who passed away August 4, 2017.

        Graveside services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 12:30p.m. at New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 South Main St., Torrington.
