Torrington- William "Bill" Samuel Needs, father, grandfather, accountant, and frequent visitor to Disney World passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 15, 2017 in Torrington, CT. He was 69.
Bill, known as Sam in his youth, was born in Philadelphia on May 1, 1947, to William and Elsie Needs. He was a proud Nittany Lion and graduated from Penn State, later earning an MBA at St. John's University. Bill was a gifted tax accountant, serving as associate comptroller at the Stanley Works before founding his own CPA firm. He taught his daughters how to ride a bike, drive a car, play tennis and do their own taxes. He was their champion, cheering them on at swim meets, plays and concerts. Even as his body failed him after a lengthy illness, he continued to be a source of unconditional love and encouragement.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Penny and Kevin Muldoon, daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Fred Boland, grandchildren Freddy, James and Kate Boland, brother and sister-in-law John and Darlene Needs of Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, and sister Elizabeth Sieck of Belmar, New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be held on March 9, 2017
