Carol A. (Scacca) Thibault

Torrington- Carol A. Thibault, 76, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019 in her home. She was the beloved wife of 56 years of George P. Thibault.

          Mrs. Thibault was born in Winsted on October 19, 1942, daughter of the late Salvatore A. Scacca and Alice Ruth (Carroll) Scacca, and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Torrington High School and completed her training as a hair stylist at the Torrington Beauty Academy. Carol worked at Gigi’s Beauty Salon in Winsted before opening her own shop in her home in Torrington, and teaching cosmetology to her much loved students at WAHS. In addition to styling hair, Carol had a passion for decorating and worked as a salesperson at Southworth’s Furniture and Libby’s Torrington Furniture Co. She was a communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish, loved the ocean, especially Wells Beach, Maine, where she visited nearly every year. Carol adored style and fashion, holidays, the Hallmark Channel, the family dog, Duke, and generally enjoyed ruling the roost. She loved to have a good laugh, loved food, especially chocolate, and eating out in local restaurants. In her earlier days, Carol made the most amazing spaghetti sauce.

          Survivors, in addition to her husband, George, include a daughter, Ellen C. Thibault of Rockport MA; a son, Daniel G. Thibault of Torrington; a grandson, William R. Surgeon of Torrington; aunts, Anna (Scacca) Luise and Elizabeth (Vincenzi) Scacca; several cousins, godchildren, and extended family who loved her very much. Carol was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Paula M. Thibault; a brother, Steven A. Scacca and his wife JoAnne G. (Lazzaro) Scacca; in-laws Pauline H. (Czajkowski) Demichiel and John J. Demichiel; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

          The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and the VNS who provided home care for her, and wonderful support to the family, as Carol neared the end of her life.

          Friends may call Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 E. Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington.
