Charles E. GermanoJune 8, 1927 ~ January 5, 2018 (age 90)
Torrington- Charles E. Germano, 90, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Louise M. (Rovero) Germano.
Mr. Germano was born in Torrington on June 8, 1927, son of the late Charles and Bertha (Vinisko) Germano Poniatoski, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean Conflict Veteran, and a retired machinist with the Torrington Company, retiring with 32 years of service. Mr. Germano was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. As a father, he was very involved with his children’s activities, and was very devoted to his wife and family. He had been active with the PTA at St. Francis School, loved sports, and was an avid Yankees and UConn Huskies fan.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Louise, include three sons, Charles Germano of Torrington, Stephen Germano and his wife Yveta of Alpharetta, GA, and Richard Germano and his wife Lynda of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Marilyn Trabold and her husband Charles of Milford; two sisters, Eleanor Albreada of Torrington, and Irene Eseppi and her husband Paul of West Hartland; two granddaughters, Veronica Germano and Victoria Germano; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Germano was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Germano and Raymond Poniatoski, and two sisters, Barbara Maffucci and Dorothy Negri.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
