Constance "Connie" Hackett Obituary

New Hartford- Constance “Connie” (Regis) Hackett, 97, of the Bakerville section of New Hartford, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two angels, on July 25, 2018. Connie was the loving wife to the late William A. Hackett, Jr., who died in 2006. She was also the loving mother to the late Mary Anne (Hackett) Beecher, who also died in 2006.

Connie was born in Torrington on May 27, 1921 and was the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Rusbasan) Regis. She attended local schools. Connie worked for the Seitz Corporation and was a retiree of the Torrington Company.

Connie Married the love of her life on May 8, 1943, and they moved to their home in Bakerville in 1950. They raised their five daughters in a loving and caring home. Connie was active in her children’s education and was a member of the PTO. She took an active role in all they did. Connie and Bill worked very hard to give all their girls and education in the Catholic school.

A warm and caring lady, Connie was loved by so many. She was devoted to her family and shared many happy times with them. The memories will live forever in the hearts of her family and she will be missed by everyone. She cherished all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and will forever be an inspiration to them. Teaching her family recipes was a joy for Connie. She was so happy that her children and grandchildren wanted to learn them and carry on the family traditions. The time spent with our mother can never be replaced and we were fortunate to have her for so long.

She was a member of the International Order of Redmen/Degree of Pocahontas. In 2005, Connie and Bill had the distinct honor of being the first husband and wife team in CT to be raised to the seats of Great Pocahontas and Great Sachem. They enjoyed all the time that they spent trailing with their fellow club members and going to the conventions.

Connie is survived by her children, Victoria Donovan and husband William of Torrington, Carol Hackett of Bakerville, Colleen Zucco and significant other Robert Zucco of Colebrook, and Connie Anderson and husband Dana of Stratford; son-in-law, Barry Beecher of Winchester Center; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband and daughter, Connie was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Andrew Regis, John Regis, Chet Regis, Stephen Regis, and Edward Regis; sisters, Mary Lev, Ann Pavlak, Vera Fedorich, Regina Spiotta, Celia Bell, Victoria Regis, and Gertrude Regis.
