Jersey City, NJ- David J. Call, 70, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Jersey City Medical Center. He was the beloved Fiancé of Linda (Whalen) Kocha.
David was born in Southbridge, MA on March 20, 1949, son of the late Warren and Katherine (Gaherty) Morrell, and had been a Torrington area resident for many years before moving to New Jersey. He had been employed at the former Star’s Department Store, the Hitchcock Chair Company, and was a Guardsman FurniturePro franchisee, specializing in furniture repair. David had a great passion for cars and enjoyed working on them.
Survivors, in addition to his fiancée, include a son, Eric Call and his wife Amy of Torrington; two daughters, Jodi Ruot of Hartford and Kelly Kacmarcik and her husband Steve, II, of Winchester; a sister, Virginia Call of Torrington; and seven grandchildren, Courtney Call, Jeffrey Ruot, Kristen Ruot, Gregory Ruot, Alexis Kacmarcik, Haley Kacmarcik, and Steve Kacmarcik, III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 10:30a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
