Torrington- Eileen Justine Lavalette, 97, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at Valerie Manor, Torrington.
Miss. Lavalette was born in Torrington on December 28, 1921, daughter of the late Leon J. and Jennie A. (Peck) Lavalette, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a Torrington High School Graduate, Class of 1939. Miss. Lavalette was a retired legal secretary in the Law Office of Judge Casale. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the St. Francis Cotillion Club and bowling league. Miss. Lavalette was a member of the Torrington Grange, enjoyed travelling, summering at Highland Lake, and was an avid cookbook collector.
The family would like to express their special thanks to the many personal aides who cared for Eileen through the years, as well as the caring staff at Valerie Manor and Athena Hospice.
Survivors include a special cousin, Julie Fabiaschi of Torrington, and several other cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 10:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in Old St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30a.m. until 10:30a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
