Harwinton- Elizabeth M. Mucha, 83, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at UConn Medical Center, Farmington. She was the beloved wife of Walter E. Mucha, Sr.
Mrs. Mucha was born in Katowice, Poland, on July 7, 1934, daughter of the late Francis and Bertha (Szymczik) Sowa, and had been a Harwinton resident for the past 55 years. She was a retired assembler with the EMSCO Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Mucha was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and was a member of the Polish National Alliance. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking Polish foods, gardening, watching sports, and loved dogs.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Walter, Sr., include two sons, Gerald W. Mucha and his wife Maria of West Hartford and Walter E. Mucha, Jr., and his wife Victoriya of Harwinton; five grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel, Sebastian, Dimitry, and Alexis; a great-granddaughter, Julia; a brother, Alfred Sowa and his wife Hilda of Katowice, Poland; a sister, Dorota Pawloska of Siemianowice, Poland; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11:15a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00p.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:30a.m. to 11:15a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
