Geraldine 'Gerri" E. (Lejeune) White

Winsted- Geraldine E. “Gerri” White, 81, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. “Jack” White

                Mrs. White was born in Torrington on February 10, 1936, daughter of the late Emile and Elizabeth (Patrick) Lejeune, and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a retired therapeutic recreation director at Torrington Extend-A-Care, retiring with 20 years of service. Mrs. White was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Torrington, for most of her life. She had been a volunteer for the YMCA Swim Team and Torrington Veterans Service Office. Mrs. White had been a member of the Winsted Senior Center, enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, trips to Cancun and Vermont, and spending time with her grandchildren.

                Survivors include a daughter, Christine E. Auletta and her husband Louis, Jr., of Burlington, CT; a daughter-in-law, Joan M. (Koplar) White of Torrington; five grandchildren, Kate Ryan and her husband Patrick, Michael Auletta, Megan Rose Auletta, Matthew White, and Kevin White. Mrs. White was predeceased by her son, Mitchell J. White, and her long time life partner, Richard “Dick” Peters.

                A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 17, 2017 at 10:30a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.

                At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Torrington Veterans Service Office, c/o 140 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790.
