Litchfield- Henrietta A. Reed, 87, died Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Chester B. Reed.

        Mrs. Reed was born in Winsted, CT on January 30, 1930, daughter of the late Abram and Clara (Wheeler) Smith, and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a member of over 50 years of the First Assembly of God Church, Torrington. Henrietta had also been a member of the East Litchfield Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Reed will be remembered for her great love of family and friends, and especially for being a wonderful and devoted mother to her children.

        Survivors include three sons, Chester Reed, Jr., and his wife Linda of Bristol, Robert Reed and his wife Bobbie Lee of Torrington, and Todd Reed and his wife Stephanie of Bristol; five daughters, Gail Cody and her husband James of Boston, MA, Rebecca Reed of Farmington, Margaret Reed of Litchfield, Jane Reed of Bethlehem, and Sandra Reed of Atlanta; two brothers, Abram Smith of Whittier, CA, Daniel Smith of Washington, DC; a sister, Marion Hanson of West Hartford; eight grandchildren, Nakeisha Cody, Christian Reed, Brandon Cody, Dylan Reed, Chester Reed, Elisabeth Reed, Robert Reed, and Margaret Ann Reed; a great-grandson, Kameron Reed; and several nieces and nephews. Henrietta was predeceased by two sons, James “Timothy” Reed, and Kevin Reed; two brothers, George Smith and Edward Smith; and two sisters, Jennie Brown and Margaret Parks.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 387 New Harwinton Rd., Torrington. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington, will be private. Friends may call Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
