Torrington- Jeanne A. Fodor, 97, passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Fodor to whom she had been happily married for 68 years.
Mrs. Fodor was born in Torrington on September 18, 1922, daughter of the late Neree and Justina (Picard) Aube, and had been a lifelong city resident. After staying at home to raise five children, Jeanne went to work at the Torrington Area Health District where she thoroughly enjoyed her job as a secretary for over 20 years until her retirement in 1999. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish. Mrs. Fodor enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and especially cooking.
It was impossible not to love Jeanne's sweet disposition, kind nature, silly sense of humor and youthful spirit. She will be remembered most for being a loving wife and mother who did anything and everything for her family. She will be missed beyond words.
Survivors include a son, Michael J. Fodor and his wife Monika of Torrington; four daughters, Eileen M. Smedick and her husband Christopher, Susan M. Ellis and her husband Anthony, Mary J. Graziani and her husband Gary, and Anne M. Fodor, all of Torrington; four grandchildren, Jaclyn DeAngelo, Christopher Smedick and his husband Brian Forte, Sarah Smedick and Jenna Ellis; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fodor was predeceased by her siblings, Yvonne, Blanche, Yvette, Lillian, Paul, Leo, Maurice and Rene.
Services and burial in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington, will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
