Joan T. Kelley

Torrington- Joan T. Kelley, 91, died Monday, August 21, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital after a brief illness.

        Miss Kelley was born in Torrington on January 2, 1926, daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Hanrahan) Kelley. She was a graduate of Torrington Schools and the College of New Rochelle, before her association with her brothers in the transportation business. She was Secretary of the EJ Kelley Company, and prior to her retirement, she was Business Manager of the Kelley Transit Bus Company. Joan was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, where she served as organist for 10 years, and served on several parish committees. She was a member of the Torrington Woman’s Club, and the Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed choral singing, traveling, and spending the summers in Goshen.

        Survivors include her nieces; Attorney Ann Fisher of New Milford and Attorney Hilary Fisher Nelson and her husband Kevin of Harwinton, Mrs. Linda F. Keithley of Cincinnati, Ohio as well as several grand nieces and nephews: Amanda Linder, Melissa Ostrowski, Matthew Fisher, James Bruzzi, Andrew Bruzzi and Patrick Nelson. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Fisher, and her brothers, Thomas Kelley Jr. and Edward C. Kelley.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, August 25, 2017 at 1:00p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in the family plot in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
