Torrington- John P. Griskauskas, 95, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2019 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of 62 years of Margery A. (Gaffney) Griskauskas.
Mr. Griskauskas was born in Waterbury on August 1, 1924, son of the late Joseph and Anna (Motiekonis) Griskauskas, and had been a Sharon resident before moving to Torrington over 20 years ago. John was a retired dairy farmer and had been proprietor of Joanna Farm in both Sharon and Cheshire for over 50 years. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish. He enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, Woodworking, making home improvements, and the great outdoors.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Margery, include three sons, Charles Griskauskas and his wife Rebecca of Syracuse, NY, Joseph Griskauskas and his wife Patricia of Northford, and Robert Griskauskas and his wife Irene of Chesterfield, MO; a daughter, AnnMarie Hoffmaster and her husband Brian of Cockeysville, MD; a sister, Helen Baltrukonis of Middlebury; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Griskauskas was predeceased by two sisters, Victoria Steponaitis and Mary Pultinas.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2019 at 10:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:30a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home
