Harwinton- Kathleen M. Sloan, 84, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington with family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late George “Woody” Woodruff Sloan, Jr.

        Mrs. Sloan was born in Boston, MA, on March 28, 1932, daughter of the late Wilrod and Buena (Zetrouer) MacAskill, and had been a Harwinton resident since 1963. Kathleen was a retired Secretary to the Dean at the Northwestern Connecticut Community College of Winsted. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington, and had been one of the founding families of the former Harwinton Episcopal Church. Mrs. Sloan was a member of the Harwinton Tennis Club and the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Ladies Auxiliary where she took great pride in volunteering her service. Kathy also enjoyed bowling, knitting and spending time with her family and friends.

        Survivors include two sons, Mark Woodruff Sloan of Goshen, and Craig Hamilton Sloan and his wife Cyndi of Torrington; two daughters, Ellen Sloan Smith and her husband Charles of West Hartland, and Robin Sloan Denny and her husband Rowland of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Christopher Sloan, Reginald Denny, Amelia Denny, and David Kirschner; and three nephews, Peter, Scott and David Sloan; three cousins, Peggy Hook Gardner of Tampa Florida, Delores Wynne Mayer of Sarasota Florida and Jane Hook Conyers of Atlanta Georgia.

        Funeral services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will be private.
