Torrington- Mario R. DePaoli, 76, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Eileen (Elliott) DePaoli.
Mario was born in Torrington on February 4, 1943, son of Helen (Field) DePaoli of Torrington and the late Mario DePaoli, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean Conflict Veteran and a retired member of the Torrington Police Department, retiring as Captain, with 30 years of service. Mario was a graduate of the FBI National Academy and a member of its association. He served as a Litchfield County Deputy Sherriff for 10 years, was a member of the American Legion Post 38, the VFW Post 1507, and AMVETS. He enjoyed NASCAR racing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife and mother, include two daughters; Kristine E. Roberts of Lewisburg, PA and Carrie A. McCall and her husband Joel of Conowingo, MD; a brother, Thomas DePaoli and his wife Linda of Torrington; six grandchildren, Jessica Macias, Michael Baker, Joel McCall, Tyler McCall, Kaitlyn Baker, and Joshua Roberts; three great-grandchildren, Lilyana, Maxon, and Nikolai Macias; and many nieces and nephews. Mario was predeceased by a son-in-law, Gregory A. Roberts.
A gathering of family and friends celebrating Mario’s life will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:00a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington.
