Harwinton- Olga S. Ellis, 97, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry R. Ellis.
Mrs. Ellis was born in Litchfield on November 7, 1921, daughter of the late Edward and Ottillie (Weise) Schutt, and had been a lifelong Torrington-Harwinton area resident. She was an active lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Torrington, and had been a member of the Church Sewing Guild, sewing lap robes for ill members.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Harriet (Hull) Ellis; grandchildren, Janice Ellis, Robert Ellis, Jr., and his wife Jodie, all of Morris, Mark Ellis and his wife Donna of New Hampshire, and Margo Ellis-Lingohr of Montana; 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters, a sister-in-law, Patricia Schutt, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Ellis was predeceased by a son, Robert H. Ellis; a step-son, Russell Ellis; a grandson, Jeffrey Ellis; her siblings, Edward Schutt and his wife Bertha, Lydia Schibi and her husband Frank, Wanda Haas and her husband Eric, Othelia Martin and her husband Charles, Henry Schutt, and Walter Schutt.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Litchfield Woods, for their caring and kindness shown to Olga over the last 10 years. Also many thanks to Marlene Parker who called her every evening at 6:30 to check in with her.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 10:00a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles Street, Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Monday, March 4, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 837 Charles St., Torrington, CT 06790 or the Resident’s Fund at Litchfield Woods, 255 Roberts St., Torrington, CT 06790, to help continue many of the recreation programs Olga so enjoyed.
