Please accept my deepest sympathy. Mom was not only my boss for many years, she was my friend, someone I could confide in and after retirement a movie and dinner partner. Rose truly was one in a million and I feel fortunate that I could call her my friend and I will miss her more than I can say.

Shawn,
It is so sad to lose someone so great as your Mom, she always mentioned you, even at work, years ago now.
She shattered several "glass ceilings" at The Torrington Company, and it was said she had the chance to go higher, as the first woman Vice President, but she wanted to be on the front lines of Human Resources work, so she chose the head HR job at the Morris Plant instead.
Before that, of course, she held many different Personnel and HR jobs, and always was a critical member in the people part of the business. Her opinion was often sought on how to handle the many people related issues that came up when dealing with hundreds if not thousands of employees. She was way ahead of her time, and would have made a great VP, but she didn't want the limelight, I think.
We brought her up to Portland, ME once to visit our mutual friend Hoppy Avalone, and had a nice time there, Hoppy really appreciated her visit as he was having some health problems even then, it just wasn't the same as before.
The world has lost a really good person now, and she had a lot of influence at the Torrington Company, you would have seen and heard an outpouring of support from hundreds of respectful well wishers if you had a wake that was open to the public. I have a feeling that she must have let it be known that she preferred to have her services private, and we respect that... it was always her way to not seek too much recognition.
She was really good at her chosen profession, and she impacted hundreds of people who respected her quiet dignity. I wish you could have heard from all who respected her so much.... it would have warmed your heart. We are so sorry to hear of your loss.
All best wishes,
Dave Geiger

Hi Shawn - my mom told me that Rose had passed away this week and I wanted to send you a virtual hug and my sympathy. I remember seeing her (and you too I think) at an opera at the Warner in Torrington - please accept my thoughts and prayers and know that she will be remembered fondly and often. My mom wants to have a Mass said so I just want to confirm your address: 488 Perkins St #7-4 in Waterbury 06704 Love, Marianne
