Albert Kulikauskas Obituary

Torrington- Albert “Albie” Kulikauskas, 99, a devoted Husband, Dad, Grandfather, and family man, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington.

Born in Waterbury, CT to the late John and Kazmera Kulikauskas on August 27, 1925. After marrying his beloved wife, June Thrall, on August 26, 1950, at St. Mary Magdalene Church, Oakville, Albert moved to Torrington. Albert and June started life together on Norfolk Rd., filled with family, love, and hard work.

He spent 43 years at Seymour Smith and Son, retiring in 1989. His tireless work ethic led him to supplement his income and support his family with part-time roles at Albrites Factory, scrap metal collecting, and picking up residential garbage on Saturdays.

Albert lived in his home on Norfolk Rd for 72 years. In February 2022, he moved to Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, where he continued to share his stories and bright personality to those around him. Albert’s life was not without its challenges. He often spoke about the struggles he faced in his early years, including to be independent at a very young age. He also faced learning challenges during his school years. Despite these obstacles, he developed a strong sense of self-reliance, a tireless work ethic, and a deep desire to always support others. Those who knew Albert will remember his kindness, generosity, and willingness to lend a helping hand. He took great joy in sharing stories from his life, regaling family and friends with tales of his adventures. Always the life of any party, picnic, or family gathering that was held throughout many years.

Throughout his life, Albert cherished trips to Washington D.C., Saratoga, NY, and Cape Cod, creating lasting memories with loved ones.

In his later years, Albert delighted in frequent rides through Litchfield County, talking about memories of his life, maintaining an excellent memory for even the smallest details about the past.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife, June; siblings, John, Edmund, Eleanor, Mary, and Lillian.

Albert is survived by his daughters, Denise Bayly (Barry) and Audrey Paczkowski (Leonard); grandchildren, Keri Hoehne (Chris), Corry Bayly (Alissa), Amy Russell (Ian), and Neil Paczkowski (Kyle); six beloved great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was also supported and cared for by close friends and family including Lucille, John C, Jean, Jimmy, Jasper, Tom, Faith, Glen, and Kristine.

Rest easy Albert/Dad, your kindness, love, and legacy will never be forgotten.

Services will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at Hillside Cemetery Chapel, 76 Walnut St., Torrington. Burial will follow. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
