Andrea (Barbeau) McCormick

Torrington- Andrea Evelyn (Barbeau) McCormick, 88, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late James E. McCormick.

        Andrea was born in Peabody, MA, on October 10, 1936, daughter of the late Arthur and Addie (Howard) Barbeau, and had been a Torrington-Winsted resident for many years. She retired from the Torrington Public School system after serving the district for nearly 3 decades and having taught elementary education for 45 years. Mrs. McCormick was a member of the Torrington, Connecticut, and National Education Associations, a member of the National Business and Professional Womens Organization, as well as the Litchfield County, CT chapter.

        She is survived by her son, William H. McCormick, II, of Stamford, CT; a brother, Joseph Barbeau of Salisbury, MA; two sisters, Nancy Cobos of Rowley, MA, and Frances Champagne of Peabody, MA; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. McCormick was predeceased by her son John Edward and two brothers, Arthur and Paul Barbeau.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Bridget’s Church, 7 River Rd., Cornwall Bridge, CT.
