Anna W. (Hochadel) Woike

Torrington- Anna W. (Hochadel) Woike, 89, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Wolcott Hall Nursing Facility, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late George H. Woike, Sr.

        Mrs. Woike was born in Providence, RI, on May 13, 1932, daughter of the late Willie and Wilhelmina (Umbach) Hochadel, and had been a Harwinton resident for many years before moving to Torrington a short while ago. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Torrington, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a member of Church Council. Mrs. Woike enjoyed music, playing the piano, walking, mowing her lawn, and taking care of her home.

        Survivors include three sons, George H. Woike, Jr., and his wife, Joyce, of Rutherfordton, NC, Herbert E. Woike and his wife, Karen, of Louisville, KY, and Timothy R. Woike, Sr., and his significant other, Cindy Gray, of Palmer, MA; a daughter, Shirley A. Downes of Altmar, NY; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Woike was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Wilhelmina Woike, and a brother, Karl “Willie” Hochadel.

        Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 7:00 pm. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Friends may call Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, 95 Flanders St., Southington, will be held on Friday at 11:00 am.
