Torrington- Blanche M. Olivapotenza, 75, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of Anthony A. Olivapotenza.
Blanche was born in New York, NY, on November 13, 1949, daughter of the late Albert and Laura (Marvullo) Martinez. She grew up in the Belmont neighborhood in the Bronx and had been a Stormville, NY resident before moving to Torrington 20 years ago. She was proud to be from the Bronx, but called Torrington her True Home.
Prior to her illness, Blanche had worked at St. Peter Rectory of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington, for nearly a decade. Mrs. Olivapotenza was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church of Our Lady of Hope Parish, and was dedicated to her Catholic Faith. She loved music, dancing, and cooking, but her grandson Alex and her dogs were the light of her life. Blanche also had an eye for decorating and loved to add color. Her peaceful place was sitting on her balcony in St. Martin, looking at the sunset and beach.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Anthony, include two children, Anthony A. Olivapotenza, Jr. and his wife, Sirun, of Carmel, NY, and Nicole M. Krumpholc and her husband, Scott, of Cornwall on Hudson, NY; a grandson, Alessandro “Alex” Olivapotenza of Carmel, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton. Entombment will follow in St. Peter Mausoleum, Torrington. Friends may call Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
