Torrington- Carmen I. Kopler, 89, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, East Hartford. She was the beloved wife of 41 years of the late Joseph P. Kopler.
Mrs. Kopler was born in El Paso, TX, on July 31, 1931, daughter of the late Elidoro and Josefina (Ortega) Martinez, and had been a Torrington resident since 1955. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. Mrs. Kopler worked for BE Aerospace from 1977 until her retirement in 1993 and had volunteered in the cafeteria at St. Peter/St. Francis School, Torrington. She enjoyed watching The Hallmark Channel and the NY Jets and Giants football. Carmen enjoyed her home and her grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Survivors include three sons, Anthony J. Kopler of Sunset Beach, NC, Michael J. Kopler and his wife, Dianne, and Joseph P. Kopler, all of Torrington; a daughter, Patricia J. Sosnowski and her husband, Mark, of Torrington; three grandchildren, Nathan Kopler, Rileigh Kopler, and Julia Sosnowski; two sisters, Mary “Henrie” Cuellar and Josefina “Josie” Bodder, both of El Paso, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Kopler was predeceased by a brother, Elidoro “Leo” Martinez.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, for the wonderful care shown to Carmen during her stay.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington is in care of arrangements.
