Charles A. Coolidge

Torrington- Charles A. Coolidge, 81, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine E. (Kincaid) Coolidge.

        Charles was born in Keene Valley, NY, on January 8, 1943, son of the late Charles N. and Barbara E. (Cornwright) Coolidge, and had been a Torrington resident since 1950. He was a U.S. Army National Guard Vietnam Era Veteran and a retired concrete truck driver with O & G Industries, retiring in 2004 with 26 years of service. Charles was a member of Center Congregational Church, Torrington and enjoyed taking trips to Plymouth Notch, VT. He liked to tinker around the house and enjoyed genealogy, tracing his family history as a relative of the 30th President, Calvin Coolidge.

        Survivors, in addition to his wife, Lorraine, include a son, John Calvin Coolidge and his wife, Brenda Eversole of Otis, MA; four grandchildren, Dawn Coolidge of Waterbury, Douglas Coolidge and his wife, Krystelle, of Torrington, James DeMaio, and Colby DeMaio, both of Milford, NH; a great-granddaughter, Sophia C. Coolidge; a sister, Carolyn Minard of SC; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Coolidge was predeceased by a daughter, Charmaine A. DeMaio.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, with Rev. Averill E. Blackburn officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
