Christopher J. Getlein

Christopher James Getlein, born August 24, 1959, died peacefully at Valerie Manor in Torrington, CT on October 15, 2021.

        He is survived by his mother, Olive Getlein, and siblings Mark, Claudia, Greta, and Patrick. Chris' life was not an easy one, but he made the most of it.

        He was a Boy Scout, an active acolyte at Trinity on-the Green (New Haven), managed to live alone for many years, worked in various jobs, played baseball, loved to travel, and was twice appointed to the mayor's Commission on Disabilities. Summer Saturday afternoons often found him on the green in New Haven, hanging out with whatever was happening there. He booked several tours out of the country and loved every minute of every one. He could recite Yankees baseball statistics like a champ and kept meticulous records of every game. He was courageous and generous, kind to everyone he met, and fiercely independent. He really, really, loved to laugh.

        Services will be private.
