Torrington- Courtney E. Avallone, 33, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at her home.
Courtney was born in Torrington on December 31, 1985, daughter of Ronald and Mary (Kulinski) Avallone of Torrington and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a graduate of Torrington High School Class of 2004. Courtney later earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development from Northwestern Connecticut Community College, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central Connecticut State University. She had been employed for the past 10 years as an Infant Room Teacher at the Brooker Memorial Child Care Center, Torrington. Courtney was a communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. She enjoyed reading and had played softball on the Brooker Memorial team. Courtney was also a polling place volunteer on election days.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a sister, Sara R. Raap and her husband Joshua of Plainville; a nephew, Domenick Raap; aunts and uncles, Michael and Karen Kulinski of South Windsor, Robert and Wendy Avallone of Torrington, and Karen Gardener of Torrington; and cousins, Alexa Kulinski, Bryant Kulinski, R.J Avallone and his wife Colleen, and Dawn Avallone.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Matt Ruffett; the nurses at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, 2nd Floor; and the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center, for their support and kindness shown to Courtney during her illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Entombment will follow in St. Peter Mausoleum, Torrington. Friends may call Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 2:00-5:00pm at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
