Cynthia Guest Obituary

Torrington- Cynthia M. Guest, 60, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021.

Cynthia was born in Morristown, NJ, on April 7, 1960, daughter of Rosalie “Salie” (Sheridan) Guest of Torrington and the late William “Bill” Guest, and had been a Torrington resident most of her life. She had studied at the University of Wisconsin and completed her CNA. Cynthia worked in various capacities serving others in the local community via nursing, schools, government, and nonprofits. She spent a year as an exchange student to Sweden for her junior year of high school and traveled Europe via train solo, unbeknownst to her parents. Subsequently, Cynthia was an adamant proponent for travel, self-development, and education in her family.

Cynthia will be remembered as a focused conversationalist and for her everlasting curiosity, and infectious joy--as she was always one to admire the beauty in daily life. Cynthia’s unparalleled compassion, quick wit, and enthusiasm have left a lifelong impact on her family and friends.

Survivors, in addition to her mother, Salie, include two children, Cristina Doyon of Waterbury and Robert Doyon and his partner, Sarah Mack, of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Kathleen Hickey and her husband, Patrick, of Torrington; and two grandchildren, Makayla Swenden of Waterbury and Ryan Totten of Clarks Summit, PA. Cynthia was predeceased by her brothers Gary and David Guest.

Services will be private. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
