David F. Hennessy, age 79, died Friday, January 30, 2026 at Complete Care, Meriden, Connecticut. David was the beloved husband of Linda M. Hennessy. He was born in Torrington, Ct. on June 24, 1946, son of the late Francis A. Hennessy and Eileen C. Hennessy. David was a Captain, pilot and Logistics Readiness Officer in the Air Force during the Vietnam era from 1968-1973. After his honorable military service, David was a lifelong resident of Watertown, Ct. where he was the proud proprietor of Kay's Hardware and D&E Sporting Goods. David was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Northfield Rod & Gun Club and The Amateur Trapshooting Association, where he was an accomplished and nationally ranked trap shooter.
David's memory will forever lie in the hearts of his family and closest friends. He is survived by his wife Linda M. Hennessy of Watertown Ct., his sister Carol H. Bornman of Beverly, MA., his brother Jeffery Hennessy and his wife Deb, of Clarksville, MD., His sister-in-law Pat O'Keefe and her husband William of Newtown CT., niece Sarah Seiler and her husband Scott, four nephews Brandon J. Hennessy, Jonathon F. Hennessy, Aidan P. Hennessy and Jordan N. Hennessy and grand-niece Samantha Seiler.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, CRNA's, aides and staff of Complete Care, Meriden for their exceptional care shown to David during his stay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 12:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday morning from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at the funeral home.
