Torrington- Dorothy B. Medico, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence P. Medico.
Mrs. Medico was born in Pennsylvania on May 2, 1926, daughter of the late Anthony and Bertha (Hegedty) Villar, and had been a Torrington resident for many years. She had been employed as a receptionist at the Sullivan Senior Center, Torrington, for 10 years. Mrs. Medico was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. Dorothy was an avid knitter, sewer, and taught crafts at the Sullivan Senior Center. She had been an active volunteer with the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure for breast cancer awareness.
Survivors include a son, Lawrence M. Medico of Torrington; a daughter, Kathleen M. Cohen and her husband Ira of Middletown; five sisters, Lyla Holtman of Torrington, Gloria Juliano of Torrington, Amelia Paquette of MO, Eleanor Thornton of UT, and Elaine Toussaint of Torrington; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Medico was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony Villar and Robert Villar; and a sister, Shirley Galitello.
Graveside services will be held Monday, July 13, 2020 at 12:15p.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
