Edith "DeDe" L (Calhoun) Mebus

Torrington- Edith L. “DeDe” Mebus, 82, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Wolcott Hall Nursing Facility, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence A. Mebus.

        Mrs. Mebus was born in Meriden on January 25, 1943, daughter of the late Peter E. Calhoun, Sr., and Theresa R. (D’Avignon) Calhoun. She was a retired Insurance Saleswoman. Mrs. Mebus loved to support Veterans, especially through the Wounded Warrior Project and AMVETS.

        Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth J. Hakulin of Torrington; and a brother, Peter E. Calhoun, Jr., of CA. Mrs. Mebus was predeceased by two sons, Gregory Hakulin and John Hakulin; and a brother, Richard “Dick” Calhoun.

        Services and entombment will be held in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, OR, on a date and time to be announced. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
