Torrington - Eleanor M. Klonoski 104, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 after a short illness. She was the loving wife of the late Arthur F. Klonoski for 72 years.
Born July 30, 1921 in Waterbury, Connecticut the daughter of John Mercier and Louise (Lenz) Mercier. During her life, she had been employed by Cinaphone as a bookkeeper where she met her husband. After raising her children, she was employed by the Torrington Company until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was previously active with the Retirees Club and the sewing group. Eleanor loved to read, sew and crochet. Prior to her husband's passing, they enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in California, Nevada, and Florida. Eleanor loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters; Linda Gorman and husband Brian of Burlington, Deborah Culver and husband Marc of Anchorage Alaska, Cynthia Bielik and husband Larry of Torrington and son Kenneth Klonoski and wife Sarah of Methuen MA, grandchildren Corey Klonoski, Jonathan Bielik and wife Brooke, Kristen Danis and husband Kyle, Matthew Gorman and wife Christina, great grandchildren Cole, Cameron, and Madison Danis, nephews Douglas Mercier and Gary Mercier. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers Frederick Mercier and Richard Mercier and nephew Richard Mercier.
Donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
