Elizabeth M. (Wanklin) Rybak

Harwinton- Elizabeth M. Rybak, 93, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of Frank J. Rybak who died April 6, 2020.       

        Mrs. Rybak was born in Torrington on June 24, 1930, daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (Kennedy) Wanklin and was a lifelong area resident. She was a Torrington High School Class of 1948 graduate. After graduation she worked as a secretary for the State of Connecticut in Hartford. She raised four children and enjoyed gardening and decorating three homes built by her husband and their current historic home they restored in Harwinton.   In her earlier years, she was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Torrington, and later, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Harwinton.

        Survivors include four children, Attorney Michael Rybak, Sr., and his wife Diane of Harwinton, Kathleen Rybak of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Timothy Rybak of Torrington, and Terrence Rybak and his wife Kyung Hee of Alton Bay, NH; and five grandchildren, Jason Delay and his wife Tracie, Andrea Cawthorne and her husband Richard, Patrick Delay and his wife Kerry, Attorney Michael Rybak, Jr., and his wife Casey, and Matthew Rybak.

        Services and burial in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington, will be held privately. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
