Torrington- Emily R. Devaux, 99, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 18, 2020 at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Clifford X. Devaux.
Mrs. Devaux was born in Torrington on August 14, 1921, daughter of the late Edmund and Olga (Wolfe) Pfeffer, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Torrington and a member of the church retirees club. Home and family meant the world to Emily, and she will be remembered for her loving devotion to her family.
Survivors include a son, Douglas Devaux of Providence, RI; a daughter, Laurie Chepiga and her husband, Charles, of Torrington; a sister, Teddy Holcomb and her husband, Howard, of Vernon; a brother, Reiny Pfeffer and his wife, Carol, of Harwinton; two granddaughters, Lindsay Ferrucci and her husband, Joseph, of Torrington and Kelsey Chepiga of North Providence, RI; two great-grandsons, Mason and Camden Ferrucci; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 10:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington, for a service at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends attending the services are asked to please wear a mask and follow CDC social distancing guidelines.
At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edmund and Olga Pfeffer Scholarship Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington, CT 06790.
