Torrington- Frances A. Gryniuk, 88, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Gryniuk, Sr., who she married in 1955.
Mrs. Gryniuk was born in Housatonic, MA, on November 12, 1931, daughter of the late John and Bessie (Golas) Arnista, and had been a lifelong city resident. Before retirement, she had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Torrington Company, Hartford Electric, and 1st Federal Savings Bank. Mrs. Gryniuk was a communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish and had been a communicant for many years of the former St. Mary’s Church, Torrington. Frances was a member of the former St. Mary’s Choir and had been a CCD instructor at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Harwinton. Mrs. Gryniuk enjoyed cooking, knitting, and crocheting. She enjoyed continuing her family’s Polish customs and traditions, and most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren and step-grandson, Evan. Frances traveled throughout the U.S. and Europe with her late husband, Joseph, attending many First Special Service Force functions. Their most memorable trip was visiting the Holy Land.
Survivors include four children, Francine Gryniuk and Kathi Weinstein, both of Torrington, Joseph J. Gryniuk, Jr., and his wife Debbie of Tacoma, WA, and Jonathan Gryniuk and his wife Tina of Castle Rock, CO; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gryniuk was predeceased by a sister, Bernice Arnista.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
