Frances A. (McCarthy) Scaia

Frances A. (McCarthy) Scaia, age 81, wife of Robert G. Scaia of East Coventry, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 in the Pottstown Hospital. She was born on April 5, 1945, in Torrington, Connecticut.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Fran is survived by her four children: Gloria (Kacey), Robert, Jack (Dayna), and Angie (Dan); nine grandchildren: Chelsea, Isabel, Saige, Robert, Seamus, Bridy, Daniel, Max, and Makenna; two great-grandchildren: Miles and Juniper; sisters: Willette McCarthy, Ingrid DiVita, and Monica McGloughlin; and brother: Bill Hower.

Fran was deeply loved, and will be remembered for her strength and the fierce love that she gave to her family. She had a way of making people feel cared for, and will be missed beyond words.

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Committal Services will follow at New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 South Main St. Torrington, CT.
