George A. Anderson

Torrington- George A. Anderson, 86, passed away January 1, 2025, in his home. He was the husband of the late Kathleen F. (Murtagh) Anderson.

        George was born in Brooklyn, NY, on October 27, 1938, son of the late George T. and Eleanor (Edney) Anderson and had been a Torrington resident for many years. He was a retired aeronautical engineer and was last employed by Greasy Machines in Bristol CT.  George was an active Communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington, where he served on the Vestry, as an Acolyte, Chalice Bearer, and brought Communion to homebound church members. In his younger years, he was involved in local theater productions. George will be remembered for his love of family, friends, social justice, his quick wit and easy smile.

        Survivors include five children, Julia Hrica and her husband, Kenneth, of Litchfield, Christine Anderson and her husband, Jay Steinberg, of Riverside, IL, Jeanne Anderson and her partner, Kenneth Reynolds, of Cupertino CA, Richard Kobylenski and his wife, Donna Nadeau of Torrington CT, and David Kobylenski and his wife, Erlinda Canseco of New Britain; a sister, Dorothy Lawler of Fayetteville GA; a brother-in-law, Robert Murtagh of Torrington; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Stephen, Zoe, Max and Dustin, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

        Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. A burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Garden. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
