Holly Marie (Prasso) Baron

West Hartford- Holly Marie Baron, 60, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021.

        Holly was born in Hartford on May 20, 1960, daughter of Virginia “Jean” A. Smith of Torrington and the late Hugo F. Prasso. She had been a Torrington and Windsor resident prior to moving to West Hartford 20 years ago. She had been employed as a Certified Public Account with Simione & Simione of Hamden, and later served as Assistant Comptroller with the City of Hartford Housing Department for 10 years. Holly received her Accounting degree from Post College, graduating with honors. While in college, she received several awards for outstanding academic achievement, including a scholarship from the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants, which was awarded to only 32 out of 1,000 applicants in the state. Holly served as a private and classroom tutor in accounting, algebra, statistics, and calculus. She was also awarded scholarships for maintaining high honors on the Dean’s List. Holly received recognition from the Internal Revenue Service for her noteworthy contribution to the community as a participant in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

        Survivors, in addition to her mother, Virginia, include two daughters, Tara A. Baron and Ashleigh L. Baron; and her former husband and best friend, Robert Baron, all of West Hartford; two aunts, Elaine Thomas and Rita Roberts, both of Torrington; and many cousins. Holly was predeceased by her brother, Dean Prasso.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 10:00a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
