Joan B. (Benny) Alfano

New Hartford - On July 21, 2023, Joan Benny Alfano passed away at age 90.

        Joan was born in Torrington on December 20, 1932, the oldest daughter of Peter and Mary (LeJeune) Benny.  She was a graduate of Endicott College.  She married her late husband, Stephen Isadore Alfano, in 1954.  She retired from the State of CT Sheriff’s Department with 26 years of service.  Joan was a communicant of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, New Hartford. 

        She leaves behind two sons, Christopher Alfano of Winchester and Mathew Alfano of New Hartford; two grandchildren, Dylan Alfano and Bryana Woodman; and several nieces and nephews.  Joan was predeceased by her sister, Marcia Powers.

        Burial and services will be held privately. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
