Torrington- John S. Lach, Sr., 91, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Judith (Donegan) Lach.
Mr. Lach was born in Torrington on December 26, 1933, son of the late John and Mary (Hanecak) Lach, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean Conflict Veteran and was a Firefighter with the City of Torrington, retiring with 25 years of service. Mr. Lach was a master at all trades and an excellent handyman. He was a former member of both the Torrington and Waterbury Lodge of Elks. Mr. Lach enjoyed left handed duckpin bowling, airplanes, and loved going to airshows.
Survivors include two sons, Edward J. Lach and his wife, Nadine, and John S. “Steve” Lach, Jr., all of Torrington; four grandchildren, Christopher Matthews, Julie Rogers and her husband, Brian, Derek Matthews, and Rachel Lach; 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lach was predeceased by a daughter, Charlene Matthews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12, 2025, at 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
